Text Ticker - Text Ticker scrolls the contents of a text file at the top or bottom of the screen, or floating anywhere on the desktop. The text appears in a so-called "appbar" which is similar to the Windows Taskbar. All settings- font, color, text file, etc.- are saved between sessions.

Keep people up-to-date on company news or alerts, watch log files, remind you of encouraging words, or improve your memorization skills.

Any text file can be dropped on the ticker and the program will begin to scroll that file's contents. Text files can also be retrieved from web servers (http:// or https://). Text Ticker can also be started with a specific file by dropping the file on the Text Ticker application icon, or by setting up shortcuts with the filename as the only parameter.

Left-clicking the tray icon alternately shows and hides the ticker.

Multiple tickers can be run, each with its own file, speed, colors, etc. Each one acts independently. When you later start Text Ticker, the first one's settings will be used; if you start a second one, the second one's settings will be used, etc.

The popup menu is available by right-clicking either the ticker or the tray icon. Select Options to open the Options window.

Options include control over how it looks visually, horizontal or vertical scrolling, scrolling speed, image file used for a logo on either edge of the ticker, timed file reload if the file has changed, show/hide ticker depending on the file status, play a sound when the file is reloaded, and more.

A number of companies use Text Ticker to keep employees informed of the current status of call center queues, sales and stock information, or any other company news everyone needs to know. A locked version of Text Ticker is available which does not allow users to make any changes or close the program. Utilities to simplify network deployment are also available.

Does What It Says On The Tin

I was looking for something to use in my karaoke show as a way to call my next singer. Having seen at a number of options on the net, I found this little gem. It takes its info to display from a simple text file, and you can instruct it to read from the beginning or end of the file. There is variable speed control, text formatting (as per windows), the file itself is only a small download and the display can be moved anywhere on your screen. I would have liked to have seen an option to add spaces to the end of any given text rather than use the space bar, but other than that I reckon the product is spot on. Because of the nature of this kind of program, and the nature of karaoke, there's always going to be an issue with having the time to use it. So, depending on my mood, I sometimes would and sometimes wouldn't use it at the gig. While I'm sure there is room for improvement in the whole concept of this sort of thing, Text Ticker is by far and away the best on offer at the moment. The only way you'll get anything better for calling up your next singer is to have some scantily clad piece of eye-candy going around with a big sign. Exactly what I was looking for! I'd like to be able to run multiple text bars at once though. Thank you!

You can run as many Text Ticker bars as your screen can handle. Just run Text Ticker again and a new bar will show up. Each one will use an independent set of options.

Pretty cool!

I like what Text Ticker does but I feel like it is a little over-priced. I use it for a form of positive reinforcment behavior modification. By using it to scroll comments of positive reinforcement, I believe it will draw positive energy into my life.
